DPM has been taking place since July of 1990 when the American Disability Act (ADA) was passed. Disability Pride is an opportunity for inclusion, to spread awareness and celebrate disability rights advocates. It is also a time for the disabled community to come together, be visible and proudly share their diverse human experience.

Motina Books Publishing and I would love to see DPM celebrated in libraries and independent bookstores across the country. We want to support authors, public figures, and stories from the disabled community.

To assist with this endeavor, we have compiled a list of notable books that would work well for a display and have included pictures of famous people with disabilities. You can also find over 100 titles of books that feature a disabled character on my ULTIMATE BOOKLIST page.

Celebrating DPM would support the largest yet most underrepresented minority in the world. It would provide an opportunity to educate and create more diversity within our communities. If you would like to approach your local library or bookstore, please feel free to use the information provided.
